Dr. Mamoun Sakkal is a type designer from Aleppo, Syria who lives and works in the United States. He is founder and principal of Sakkal Design in Bothell, Washington. He has received many awards in calligraphy, graphics, and type design, including four awards of excellence from the Type Directors Club of New York. Dr. Sakkal has been the Arabic typography specialist for Microsoft since 2001, and regularly provides consultations on Arabic typography to companies and agencies around the world.
