Anoush Nicoghosian

Anoush Nicoghosian is a lettering artist and the founder of anoush dsgn, a startup company dedicated to Armenian alphabet art. Anoush grew up in the Netherlands, half Armenian, half Dutch and lives in Los Angeles with her husband and son.

When Anoush first decided to combine her love for art and the Armenian alphabet, she began with the idea that she could take an ancient script and bring a new and adventurous approach to the table. She called it Armenian alphabet art with a twist and it drew the attention of both Armenian and non-Armenian viewers.

As a diasporan artist, her Armenian identity has always been an important part of her life. Her work is a reflection of how the various languages spoken by Armenians don’t merely coexist, but weave in and out of each other to form the essence of the diaspora.

Her art has been featured on social media by TUMO Center for Creative Technologies, Live Love Armenia and ONEArmenia. In 2017 Anoush joined forces with ONEArmenia to help with their campaign to remove landmines from Artsakh. Her illustration brought attention to the painful reality that so many residents of Artsakh face on a daily basis. Beyond getting the word out, her design was featured on t-shirts sold by Shabeeg, who donated all proceeds to the campaign.
