GRANSHAN Jury 2019: Script expert for Chinese Scripts

Julius Hui, Chinese type designer and typographer based in Hong Kong.
Since graduation at School of Design, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hui worked as type apprentice under seasoned type designer Sammy Or, and was a member of the Xin Gothic development team.

Hui was then started his type business 3 years later, designed popular Chinese logotypes for different international brands for The New York Times, Bloomberg Businessweek, etc, and joined London based type company Dalton Maag as font developer in 2012. Within the period, he was lead designer for several Chinese branding fonts projects, such as Hewlett-Packard and Intel. Hui joined Monotype Studio as Senior Type Designer in 2015, participated in Chineselibrary font development, such as M Ying Hei, M Xianghe Hei (Neue Frutiger Chinese), and Chinese custom design projects, such as Tencent Font, a ground-breaking Chinese oblique design for the Chinese tech giant. Julius won '10-20-30' for Antalis Paper Pacific, 'Generation T' 50 Young Guns of HK Tatler magazine, and CreateSmart YDTA Awards (distinction awards) by Hong Kong Design Centre and The Hong Kong Government.

Hui starts working as independent type designer in mid-2019 and develop his personal type design projects.
