Stefan Sagmeister (born 1962) studied graphic art and design at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. A Fulbright scholarship recipient, he completed a master's degree at the Pratt Institute in New York. At 29, he moved to Hong Kong to work as creative director at Leo Burnett. In 1993, he returned to New York and after a short time at Tibor Kalman's studio, he founded Sagmeister Inc. ID Magazine wrote about his work: »Sagmeister's CD package designs are what poetry is to prose: Distilled, intense, cunning, evocative and utterly complete. His inventions have set a new standard.« Sagmeister has been nominated six times for a Grammy and received it for the design of the Talking Heads album, »Once In A Lifetime« and »Everything That Happens Will Happen Today« by Brian Eno and David Byrne.
